The pulpit is located in Rogaland county in Strand municipality south of the country. Popular with visitors to Norway's fjord region, hiking the Preikestolen is an unforgettable day trip that many travelers choose to take.
The pulpit is located south of both Bergen and Oslo and can be reached from the nearby city of Stavanger, which is the fourth largest city in Norway.
How high is the pulpit?
The mighty Pulpit Height is over 600 meters and makes this cliff a fantastic vantage point over the Lysefjord. See the flowing water and the majestic, green mountains from an incredible vantage point at the top of Preikestolen.
The pulpit tour reaches a height of just over 500 metres. The path flattens out in the last kilometre, giving you fantastic views of the fjord below.
How long does it take to walk the Preikestolen?
It the eight kilometer long trip until the pulpit takes around four hours. You start at the mountain hut Preikestolen fjellstue, which you can reach by car, bus or boat from Stavanger. Reaching the top of this spectacular cliff in Norway is classified as a moderate level of difficulty, with some steep areas along the route.
